The project comprises: six indoor tennis courts with changing rooms, spectator areas, conference and refreshment facilities along with outdoor all-weather tennis courts and two clay courts and separate children's fun zone courts, two full sized football pitches and changing rooms and associated car parking, landscaping and external works.
The initial concept design was conceived by NDC and we were engaged to develop the scheme to detailed design along with preparation of full production information and construction detailing/specification. This included ensuring strict compliance with the stringent Lawn Tennis Association and Football Association Regulations.
The Site was a former refuse tip on fluvial silt and careful design consideration had to be given to unusual site conditions such as methane gas. We proposed the use of single pour, fibre reinforced concrete slabs which saved considerable time and cost for the client.
The project was completed on time and within budget despite incorporating many client variation and the centre is recognised as one of the best in the country.
