10 affordable houses, Fremington
The site was originally 8 Flats of inadequate construction which could not be viably upgraded to current standards and car parking was on street.
RGP Architects redesigned the site to provide 10 new houses with on site car parking to latest DCC standards and upgraded the road width of Thornlea Avenue.
The site is level but is surrounded by existing houses & bungalows and so had to be sensitively designed to address Planning concern for overlooking and street frontage requirements to Beechfield Road.
Surface water drainage from the site was also an issue and required detail design of onsite attenuation to limit the discharge from the site to maintain the former discharge rate.
The Scheme was designed to meet sustainable homes code level 3 and to Housing Corporation requirements.
